Cafes, Tearooms & Snack Bars around Brighton

That Little Tea Shop in the Lanes

Meeting House Ln, Brighton BN1 1HB, UK – 01273 774000

Lovely spot for a cup of tea and a bit of crumpet. We found it thanks to a word of mouth recommendation from a local who we asked. They were kind to our dog as we sat outside and had our snack. A lively area and a nice stop off.

At last traditional tea room in Brighton no avocado hidden under your bread and no sneaky wasabi just tea and a sarny. Great people watching spot on a nice day.

Pelicano Coffee Co.

28 Sydney St, Brighton BN1 4EP, UK

That rare thing - a cafe that serves proper leaf tea as well as coffee. Extremely friendly staff. Great cakes and generous portions although I'd like to see one or two that don't have quite so much cream and icing. Maybe a fruit cake or trad Victoria Sandwich with just jam. But it's a great place.

A very popular place offering a good range of tasty food, coffee and loose tea. Delicious cakes. Very friendly efficient staff. A nice little garden out the back adds to its charm. A quiet and cosy upstairs. Ideal for working on laptops. Outside sunny seating.

Bankers Traditional Fish & Chip Restaurant

116A Western Rd, Hove, Brighton BN1 2AB, UK – 01273 328267

We walked a bit further than required especially to find this fish and chip shop as it had better reviews than others. We weren't disappointed. Food was lovely. I had medium cod and chips which was lovely. Gherkins, yum. My friend had curry sauce which we both agreed was probably the best we've ever had. Service was surly but prompt. They seemed to be swamped (both waitresses too busy to take a group pic of us). I would visit again.

Very nice traditional British cuisine. Everything on the menu is delicious and is as good as they say. Their fish and chips offerings is particularly good, using fresh fish fired very crisp and not bathing in oil. Pies are also very well made and tasty. Tap water comes with lemons and ice for free which is a nice touch. Service is nice and the staff jokes around sometimes when the restaurant isn't too busy.

Sandwich Bars, Deliveries & Lunchtime Snack Outlets around Brighton

Poppy's Sandwich Bar

58 London Rd, Brighton BN1 4JE, UK – 01273 672235

This is one of the best sandwich shops I've ever been too, by far the best in the UK. This is authenticity at its peak. ALL the ingredients are fresh and right in front of you (the chicken is literally cut off the breast and placed on your sandwich). The owner is the most cheerful and kind lady as well who will make you feel like someone from your family is making the food. Will come back every time I need a sandwich in Brighton.

Came here a few times now and each time I'm blown away by the customer service and the quality of the food! Today I had the falafel and tzatziki sandwich and I honestly thing it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, which surprised me as I'm normally a big meat eater. I was actually a bit sad when I'd finished it. To top it off, the big smiles of the staff will always make sure you walk away with a smile.

Legends Hotel

31-34 Marine Parade, Brighton BN2 1TR, UK – 01273 624462

A magnificent place to stay. Worth every pound. And Mo was a particular delight. We really enjoyed talking to you. All the staff were really lovely and couldn't be more helpful but the really special thing I hadn't expected was our room and its view.

A mainstay of the diminishing Gay Scene. A fun venue offering regular cabaret, decent priced booze and a disco in the basement. Attentive staff and very patient and understanding door staff. Upstairs does resemble a hotel breakfast room, but it is hard to forget that is exactly what it is when you are five pints in on a raucous Friday evening. It really is a must for any gay visitor though. Sunday Cabaret and Monday night hosted by some legendary cabaret stars are well worth the visit.

Camelford Arms

30-31 Camelford St, Brighton BN2 1TQ, UK – 01273 622386

Local pub oozing with relaxed coolness. Crowd is young professional types coming off the train (DFLs). Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great. Beautiful garden out the back, perfect in the summer and heaters for the winter. Food is good as well, everything fresh and decent ingredients. Allergies and dietary requirements well catered for.

We had the most incredible veggie roast dinners today! There was a bit of a wait but to be honest it was totally worth it as the portion size was gigantic (could probably feed a family of 4 if you bought dessert - no jokes!) Very wide selection of drinks too and exactly as their website says, warm and friendly. Also if you like dogs there were about a million in there šŸ˜

Chinese Takeaways

China Hins

121 Church Rd, Hove BN3 2AF, UK – 01273 329888

Lobely restraunt with really nice food. Goof seating including a nice window table for sunny days. The set menus are really good value and offer great variety. The service was very good. Attentive but not intrusive. Will visit again.

Visited for new years Eve and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. The food was plentiful and tasty.

Singapore Kitchen Chinese in hove

19 Blatchington Rd, Hove BN3 3YP, UK – 01273 736251

Delicious food. It's been a while since I ordered last, and had forgotten how good it was :)

Magic Wok

49 Preston St, Brighton BN1 2HP, UK – 01273 327788

Best Chinese I've had in Brighton. Food is good value and doesn't seem to be too greasy or full of MSG. Staff are friendly also. Delivery is always quick but I mostly prefer to collect because I live so close. Also like how they give you a free dish if you spend over a certain amount. Would recommend the chicken and cashew nut in yellow bean sauce :)

Awesome sweet and sour hk style and house special, staff super friendly. Definitely coming back!

Indian Takeaways

Shahi Tandoori

40-42 Beaconsfield Rd, Brighton BN1 4QH, UK – 01273 626187

Shahis has become the measure by which I judge all other curry houses. Having been a frequented for several years, still no place can take its crown. I am amazed they have not invested in a second or bigger premises, it is always busy... people know good curry! The staff are the friendliest you'll meet, who'll meet you, greet you, seat you feed you and then see you politely off as you exit the door. They deserve 10 stars for keeping up such a high standard for so many years. Cheers!

We loved it from the first time. Very good in relation quality-price. Great amount of food per dish and very tasty. Nice staff.

Spice Tandoori

71 Old Shoreham Rd, Hove BN3 7BE, UK – 01273 739677

Very happy with the takeaway we had from here tonight. The website is easy to use as the takeaway ordering gives explanations of the dishes, and automatically shows relevant bread/rice options with the main dishes. Email confirmation giving estimated time of arrival, and in fact it arrived before that (I had asked for asap, rather than selecting a time). Food was hot, well packaged and yummy :-)

We have a lovely feast for 2 here for the Sunday buffet. They staf explained all the dishes and were extremely tentative thought out out stay. Amazing food! Can't wait to go back!

Agra Tandoori

263 Ditchling Rd, Brighton BN1 6JH, UK – 01273 503676

Amazing food. Mango and mint chutney was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended take-away.

Tried here Tonit. Normally get my curries delivered. But heard good things. Best choice I've made this year. Curry was top draw. Even the missus liked it. Worth the pick up people. Top of my list.

Takeaway Food

75 North St, Brighton BN1 1ZE, UK – 01273 776995

Absolutely Fabulous! Stumbled across Leon when on holiday. There were two us and everything we had was delicious - Meatless Meatballs, Falafel Wrap, Rose & Pistachio Donut & Lemon & Ginger Crunch Cake. The icing on the cake however was the excellent service from Ben......what an asset to this company. Superb. Try never to lose this one Leon! Noticed you have a branch in Oxford......look forward to our next visit there.

Man I literally love this place. Iā€™m a gym freak and if I get the munchies late there open til 10pm. Super fast, tasty and healthy food and well cheap. Excellent customer service

Golden Fry

2 Valley Dr, Brighton BN1 5FQ, UK – 01273 501444

Golden Fry is the best fish n chips around and proper portions. Lovely staff, especially the new kid who was very helpful and patient even though it was very busy.

Excellent fish and chips, lovely and fresh, and great battered sausages. Nice and friendly staff as well.

140 London Rd, Brighton BN1 4JH, UK – 01273 690511

Speed and convenience wins at this time of night so I can't complaint with my midnight meal for one. Chips, good!! Burger, good!! Drink, refreshingly non alcoholic. We should set our expectation to low when entering through the golden arches and be pleased to receive the warm welcome along with a tray full of food. Can't believe I have his much to say about McDonald's... so ill stop.

This fast food shop is really good and after the refurbishment it looks really nice the self ordering machine is really good the queues for the food ordering is a bit long but still it is good enough to wait is not too long. But the collection for the food is really long and have to wait for a long time even if there is one burger you ordered. The toilet are OK and there is lot of sink with soap and there is couple of good hair dryer but one of the bad thing is it doesn't have parking or lot of area to sit as it really busy and it on a high street. Overall it is a good fast food store to go with tasty food.
