Hotels Brighton

Jurys Inn Brighton Waterfront

Kings Rd, Brighton BN1 2GS, UK – 01273 206700

only had a one night stay but could not fault a single thing. we had a family room,room140 which was a lovely size. the view was the back of the hotel but we were not bothered. 2 double beds. excellent cotton bedding good pillows. beautiful spacious hotel very good breakfast with plenty of choice. staff are very helpful. hotel very clean. I definitely recommend this hotel and will be returning myself.

Just stopped of for a coffee. Grab a table or comfy sofa by a window over looking the sea, if you can, as the bar is slightly raised and gives a good view. Food looked good. I can definitely imagine staying heat next time as it's close to everything

Hilton Brighton Metropole

Kings Rd, Brighton BN1 2FU, UK – 01273 775432

I decided to ignore all the negative feedback about, no air conditioning and rude staff and booked at the Hilton for my family. Thank goodness I did l. I booked two rooms on the sixth floor. One had air con and the other one didn’t. Both rooms were fantastic. The windows open just enough for a nice flow of air. It was 35degrees on one of the nights I stayed. Not much any hotel can do about that. Either way, the staff was excellent. I’ve already stayed at the Grand and now love them both. From check in to departure all was wonderful. I booked a meal at the hotel restaurant and again, faultless and the food was amazing. The break was worth every penny, Easy access to all areas for shopping, sightseeing and pier fun fair. Cheers to you all who run the hotel and I will be returning without hesitation. Best Wishes, Robert, wife and daughter.

I hovered over three stars for my visit here. Don't get me wrong it's a decent hotel. The beds are comfy room size is a bit on the small side. Mine was nearly all bed. Excellent breakfast here though and staff were friendly and attentive. The reason I considered a low score is due to the fact there was no air con in the rooms and the small fan provided made little difference in the current UK heat.

The Grand Brighton

97-99 Kings Rd, Brighton BN1 2FW, UK – 01273 224300

Had afternoon tea. The cool interior of the lobby was a welcome relief from the summer heat and the ambience was relaxed and charming. Marble columns and fine furniture gave it the air of exclusivity. Once shown to the brightly lit tea room with sea views we were seated immediately. Very comfortable chairs, cutlery was clean, service was prompt and first rate with smiling and attentive personnel. Selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes was very good, with a particular mention for the excellent salmon sandwich and small chocolate cake. I had a cappuccino which was tasty and hot to go with the food. Everyone i was with found the surroundings to be very pleasant and all the staff, from the doorman and the others milling about, to our severs, we're friendly and professional. I would recommend the high tea experience at the Grand Hotel.

The booking process was extremely straightforward and very informative. Fast forward to the day, and as soon as we walked through the door we were met with very helpful staff who directed us to the hotel reception (since we had to enter through an alternative entrance due to renovations). The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, he explained everything to us and asked how our trip to the hotel was. After checking in, we proceeded to our room which was on the sixth floor. As soon as I entered the room door, I immediately felt as though I had immersed myself in luxury, notwithstanding that we booked the cheapest room. Everything was clean, and whilst a fridge would have been nice, the elegant and impressive furniture certainly made up for this. The bed itself was very very comfortable, and I was able to sleep throughout the night - which is a rarity! In addition to the excellent hotel experience, I would also fully recommend the Victoria Bar where they do incredibly good cocktails and the bar staff's impressive skills match their charisma. Overall, I would not hesitate to come back to this hotel in the future; I have stayed at one or two luxury hotels, and I do have to say that this Hotel is on par.

Booking.com offers competitive rates for any type of hotel, from small independent hotels to a five star luxury ones. The site is available in 24 languages and offers over 71000 hotels in 71 countries. Could be useful for you. There are of course several such sites.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Brighton Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Better Half Pub

1 Hove Pl, Hove BN3 2RG, UK – 01273 737869

Superb dog-friendly place with fantastic food. The pub has a nice warm feeling and has a nice buzz as it was nicely filled. The food is superb, the menu is short (it fits on a single page), but it has something for everyone. A mix of British pub food done excellently, veggie options including a Malaysian-style curry, steak, fresh fish and burgers, cheeseboards and more. There didn't seem to be any vegan options except the hummus as starter and the side salad, so bare that in mind if visiting with a vegan. Everyone found something they fancied. The desserts are all classic British deserts - you can't go wrong. The Scotch egg in the starters is fantastic, but massive for a starter! Cut it in half and share it with someone so you have room for the rest. We loved our visit to The Better Half and would definitely visit again.

This pub was an absolute gem of a find, I live fairly close and had never heard of it. The food is nothing short of stunning and with a nice mix to suit all comers. All meals are reasonably priced and a good range from light snack to large meal. The desserts are epic and worth a visit just to sample them. The drinks menu's are great with a broad range from beers and ciders up to reasonably expensive wines. I would give this place 6 stars if I could.

The Earth & Stars

The Dorset Bar & Kitchen

Quick and friendly service. Delicious food and big portions. Great burger selection, I’d go back again! This was a perfect spot for dinner before going to a Komedia club show across the street. I had the fish n chips which came w mushy peas and tartar sauce. It was amazing!

A group of us stayed in the Kemptown Loft at the end of July. Marina was really accommodating and the apartment was just lovely - really nicely done up, and very comfortable. It had everything we needed for a really comfortable stay. The location was great as well - just a few minutes walk from the shops, and you could see the sea at the end of the road! I would definitely recommend this to others.

Montpellier Hall

4A Montpelier Terrace, Brighton BN1 3DF, UK – 01273 203599

I've just spent a few very pleasant days at Montpellier Hall, where the surroundings and the service couldn't be faulted. It's like staying in a stately home! Where else would you get breakfast with matching blue china and silver cutlery served with old fashioned charm and panache by Roger. No wonder that it's recommended on Tripadvisor. My room was very comfortable, with views of the garden and pond, which make for a very pleasant after breakfast meander. It's just a few minutes from the Brighton Shops and the sea front and I found the location ideal for my needs. I'm looking forward to returning soon.

I spent 10 days at the Montpelier Hall while alone in Brighton. What makes up for this place are two things: the building and its proprietor. This guest house is a listed building and as such it maintains all its original features. There are original paintings of former city mayors, who lived in the building, in the lounge and acts of parliament on important landmarks in Brighton in the bathroom. The full English breakfast is served on blue china plates and silver cutlery. Everything in this guest house is original. In the garden you can find a very rich variety of plants with a central pond and fountain, in the back of the garden you can go see Roger's tomatoes in the greenhouse. The real element of the guest house however is its proprietor. Roger is a very calm person who makes sure the building's decor and state are always outstanding. His service is excellent and personalised to your needs. He is a walking encyclopediae on local history and art. While I was here I was invited to a Blue Plaque unveiling in honour of John Constable and later that day participants, including John Constable's great great great grandson, came to the guest house for refreshements It is not the usual hotel you'll find on the high street and not all might find what they are looking for here, but for those who are interested in living something of our past this is the best place to stay in Brighton.
